About the event
Moore’s Run trailhead, Shawnee State Forest • Scioto County ¥ Trailhead right on scenic route US-52 roughly 1 hour 50 minutes east of Cincinnati just before the historical Shelby 100 Mile House & Gardens.
This heavily forested, unglaciated trail winds its way to the top of the foothills crossing several small rocky streams. Once up the slope there are some gorgeous vistas of the surrounding valleys of the Shawnee region. Eventually the trail comes to Forest Road 23 where a beautiful overlook views the ancient river valley with Kentucky’s rolling bluegrass hills line the horizon. This journey totals 6.5 miles up and back.
Near the trailhead is also the amazing early nineteenth century Mitchell-Morrison Cemetery up along the wooded ridge. ✳️ 🌄
