Join us for a 3 mile out and back hike along the Port Union-Gilmore Ponds historic canal trail. A passive wetland park following the Mill Creek and the former Miami Erie Canal, the park features the paved three-mile Port Union Canal Trail.

Join us for a 3 mile out and back hike along the Port Union-Gilmore Ponds historic canal trail. A passive wetland park following the Mill Creek and the former Miami Erie Canal, the park features the paved three-mile Port Union Canal Trail, which passes the ruins of a canal aqueduct, waste weir, and the foundation of an icehouse and ice ponds. With a variety of flora and fauna, the park is an excellent location for bird watching and nature exploration. We are going to start in the parking lot of the Star Lounge and Bar and walk 1 1/2 miles to Firebird Drive and then return back to the restaurant. Celebrate the hike with a bite to eat or a drink at a local favorite family owned restaurant that serves a hybrid of Indian, Asian and American food in a quaint old Irish pub.
