About the event
CancerFreeKIDS 100mi challenge LAUNCH hike Join for a hike as we raise awareness for the CancerFreeKIDS 100 mile challenge in honor of September's Childhood Cancer Awareness month! We will aim to complete ~5mi on the Ohio River Trail (paved, rated easy, shorter distances possible) starting from the Friendship Park parking lot with an optional social (food/drinks) after at City View Tavern. You are not required to be registered for the CFK challenge to join the hike. About the CFK 100mi challenge: Did you know that less than 10% of the federal cancer research budget goes towards childhood cancer research? This September, about 1,290 kids in the US will be diagnosed with pediatric cancer. They join thousands of others who are currently in treatment and hundreds of thousands more who previously battled cancer. The September 100 Mile Challenge exists to celebrate the survivors, remember those for whom a cure did not come soon enough, and give hope to kids currently undergoing treatment by funding the very best research to improve treatment options for all kids diagnosed with cancer, now and in the future. If you're interested in joining the 100mi challenge, chat with Mary (mary.bedard@cchmc.org) about a registration discount and for more information.
